Jesse is senior personnel on the NJDOE-funded Computer Science Education Hub (CS Hub) in partnership with PRISM (Professional Resources in Science and Mathematics), the ADP Center for learning technologies, and MSUNER (Montclair State University Network for Educational Renewal). The CS Hub provides professional development for K-12 teachers, counselors, and administrators.
Jesse is appointed 75% in the College for Education and Engaged Learning (CEEL) within the Teaching and Learning Department (TLRN). Within this role, he teaches mostly STEM Methods and CS Education Courses. Courses he has taught include: TLRN 502: Inclusive CS Teaching; ECEL 417/427/517: STEM Methods.
Jesse is appointed 25% in the College of Science and Mathematics (CSAM) within the School of Computing (SoC). Within this role, he teaches Python, Block-based Programming Languages, and Statistics courses. Courses he has taught include: CSIT 500: Computer Science Principles; STAT 109: Statistics.
Jesse is currently serving as the President of the Asian Pacific Islander Caucus (APIC). The Caucus aims to enhance awareness and understanding of AAPI cultures and experiences within the university community. It advocates broadly on issues impacting AAPI communities and promotes a culture of inclusivity.
Jesse utilizes mastery-based grading to emphasize student learning and growth over point accumulation. By focusing on clearly defined learning objectives, students have the opportunity to demonstrate understanding at their own pace and to revisit and revise work as needed. This approach supports deeper conceptual learning and encourages a growth mindset.
Jesse incorporates project-based learning (PjBL) to create meaningful, real-world learning experiences that promote critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity. Students are empowered to take ownership of their learning, connect content to authentic contexts, and develop skills essential for lifelong learning.
Jesse employs culturally responsive and sustaining pedagogies to honor and integrate students’ diverse cultural backgrounds, experiences, and ways of knowing into the learning environment. Jesse supports student identity development through curriculum design, instructional strategies, and classroom practices.
Jesse is committed to inclusive education by designing learning environments that are accessible, equitable, and supportive of all students, regardless of ability, background, or learning style. He uses of differentiated instruction, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and collaborative practices to ensure opportunity for learners to engage in their learning.

Jesse’s work in computational thinking (CT) centers on embedding CT practices into elementary and secondary science and math education. He explores how CT can be taught through inquiry-based and culturally responsive pedagogies. His research highlights the importance of aligning CT instruction with equity-focused teaching to ensure broad and meaningful access for all learners.
Jesse applies the ICAP framework—Interactive, Constructive, Active, Passive—to examine how different instructional strategies affect student cognitive engagement. His studies often use this framework to analyze digital learning environments and design principles for effective educational interventions. He leverages ICAP to better understand how technology-enhanced activities can support deeper learning through constructive and interactive modes of engagement.
Jesse investigates the integration of artificial intelligence in education with a focus on how AI tools can support student engagement and learning. His research examines the pedagogical potential and ethical challenges of AI-driven technologies, emphasizing their role in personalized learning environments and their implications for equity and instructional design in K–12 and higher education settings.
Jesse Ha’s research in educational technology explores how digital tools, including gamified platforms, AR/VR, mobile applications, can be designed to enhance learning outcomes. He focuses on the alignment between technology use and pedagogical goals, with particular attention to engagement, accessibility, and cultural responsiveness. His work contributes to the development of ed tech tools that are both innovative and grounded in learning sciences.
The talk focused on the ICAP framework and active learning.
The interview focused on children's mental health in Korea.
The interview focused on how parents can prepare their children for getting accepted into top universities.
